Understanding Continence Promotion: Effective Management of Bladder and Bowel Dysfunction in Adults
On this course you’ll learn how to:
- Recognise and assess the common conditions experienced.
-Develop the skills to work with adults with different types of continence problems
- Learn how to create effective management plans to treat the condition, and explore how to minimise the impact of these stigmatising conditions.
Module One - Promoting continence or managing incontinence?
‘Continence’ is the ability to voluntarily control emptying the bladder and bowels effectively in a socially acceptable place and hygienic way. Continence refers to self-control, it is the ability to hold back bodily functions from the bladder or the bowel.
